Lake
DeSmet
Located ten minutes from Story, Wyoming off
I-90, the lake was named after Father Pierre
Jean DeSmet. The lake was discovered in
1851 and today boasts excellent fishing and
boating. It is the site of the annual
Buffalo, Wyoming Lion's Club Fishing Derby
on Memorial Day weekend. |

The lake is about five miles long and more
than one mile wide. The Lake Stop Resort at
Lake DeSmet rents fishing boats and sells
groceries and supplies for for fishing,
camping and other recreational activities.
There are two public boat launching areas at
the lake. |
